Power Hour: Making Minutes Count

Power Hour helps members ages 5–18 achieve academic success with:

  • Daily homework help
  • One-on-one and small group tutoring
  • High-yield learning activities
  • Goal-setting and progress tracking
  • A “Power Points” reward system to celebrate growth

The program encourages self-directed learning and helps youth build strong academic habits—while making afterschool learning fun.

DIY STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)

DIY STEM inspires youth ages 9–12 through fun, interactive experiments that connect science to everyday life.
Current curriculum modules include:

  • Energy & Electricity
  • Engineering Design
  • Food Chemistry
  • Aeronautics
  • Robotics

A sixth module, Science of Sports: Football, expands learning through physics and athletic performance.
DIY STEM strengthens critical thinking, teamwork, and inquiry-based learning while building excitement for science.

Essentials Technology Program

Digital Skills • Creativity • Real-World Applications

Essentials provides members of all ability levels with foundational technology skills through more than 40 project‑based activities across three themes:

  • Building – coding, digital design, 3D projects
  • Exploring – research, digital tools, problem-solving
  • Communicating – presentations, media creation, storytelling

Most activities take around 45 minutes, but many youth choose to explore further based on interest.

NetSmartz Internet Safety Workshop

Safe Online Behavior • Cyberbullying Prevention • Digital Citizenship

Developed with Sprint and BGCA, NetSmartz helps youth learn safe online behaviors, prevent cyberbullying, and practice responsible digital citizenship. Topics include:

  • Cyberbullying prevention
  • Social media responsibility
  • Safe messaging & online communication
  • Protecting personal information

Summer Brain Gain

Project-Based Summer Learning • Creativity • Literacy • Collaboration

Summer Brain Gain offers week‑long project‑based learning modules for elementary, middle, and high school students. Supported by Disney, each module includes:

  • Discovery and exploration
  • Creative expression
  • Team collaboration
  • A final project or production

With support from Staples, this literacy program introduces a new book each week—brought to life with engaging activities that deepen comprehension and spark imagination.
